Author name: Andrew Karhaleu

I’m Andrew Karhaleu, co-founder and CTO of BearDev, where I lead development and architect the technical vision for our projects. BearDev itself traces its roots to 2008, when I created my first software project—a league management system for my amateur football team, Varteks. Frustrated with tracking stats manually, I built a tool to streamline the process. What began as a hobby project for my teammates soon evolved into the foundation of our company. To this day, I’m driven by that same hands-on problem-solving: transforming real-world challenges into clean, efficient code.

Football isn’t just a passion—it’s woven into my career and life. Playing for Varteks taught me the value of teamwork and precision, lessons I now apply to software development. Off the pitch, I’m a devoted Valencia CF fan, with a nerdy enthusiasm for European football history, tactics, and player stats. Whether debating transfer strategies or reliving classic matches, I’m always up for a deep dive into the sport’s nuances.

When I’m not coding or dissecting football, I channel my competitive streak into pub quizzes with friends. It’s the perfect counterbalance to my tech-focused work: unpredictable, social, and endlessly entertaining.

At heart, I’m a builder. Whether crafting software, analyzing a match, or piecing together quiz answers, I thrive on connecting dots others might miss. Life’s a mix of logic, curiosity, and the occasional lucky break—and I’m here to make the most of every play.
